It’s been some time since my previous post here. But, in the meantime, I got to play with with this awesome lens from 7Artisans. The lens is a bit longet that I would like it to be, but I think it looks really nice on my black Leica M10 camera. Not too heavy, but not as light as it could be.
It seems that I just love 28, 35 & 50mm focal lengths. Somehow they just fit my style if I may say. Not sure if it’s because I have never used zooms of some kind, or I belong to a specific group of fixed lens warriors 😏.

I like how a 35mm lens feels natural. You will read that a 50mm focal length is the closest to the human eye, but I would argue it’s 35mm. Just look how calm and relaxing this monochrome picture of a book looks. It feels like you are experiencing the scene with your own eyes.
Or is it just me? 😊

I like shooting in black and white with Leica. I know this is not directly linked to a specific lens, but I love how black-and-white pictures look from this camera. Maybe it’s time to try a Monochrome version of it? :)

As you can probably see, the weather is not serving us very nicely here in Norway in the last few weeks. We got way too much rain and a gray sky. Usually, during days like this, I would go full black and white photography, but some scenes don’t pop as enough as they do in color. Take this picture of a small garden above for example.

Check out this picture above. Notice how this lens likes to spin everything around at a specific distance? Swirly bokeh, in photography terms. I like this a lot! The lens is pretty sharp enough wide open I would not hesitate to use it at f1.4. But I guess you can probably see that from these pictures.

Here we also have some swirly bokeh going on. I love this look very much!

While 7Artisans is not sponsoring this blog post, I have no issues showing what this lens is capable of in terms of performance. The only thing I don’t really like about it is this WEN logo on the lens hood and the fact that the lens hood itself is easily moved out of its place. For the price, you cannot complain a lot. You still get an integrated lens hood as well as outstanding rendering!
Definitely recommended!
